On the 30th April 2018, all Championship Manager games will stop accepting in-app purchases. This is to allow players reasonable time to finish off any active campaigns and time to use any currencies or in-game items purchased before the Closure Date. You only need the CD for the initial CD check, after you've loaded your save game you get a message telling you that you can remove the CD from the drive. You don't need the CD in the drive to run the game, it doesn't get accessed anyway.
